I/O interface circuit (I/O module)

In addition to the above general IO, there are special IO modules, such as thermal resistance, thermocouple, pulse and other modules.

According to I/O points to determine the module specifications and the number of I/O modules, I/O modules can be more or less, but the maximum number of its can be managed by the basic configuration of the CPU, that is, by the maximum number of chassis or rack slots.

In 1987, the draft PLC standard issued by the Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) made the following definition of PLC:

“PLC is an electronic system of digital operations, designed specifically for use in industrial environments. It uses programmed memory to store instructions for operations such as logical operations and sequence control, timing, counting and arithmetic operations, and to control various types of mechanical equipment or production processes through digital or analog input (I) and output (O) interfaces.”
