Direct drive of rotating motor without frame

Frameless direct drive rotary motors are the “grandfather” of direct drive motor technology, and

without a doubt, they offer the most compact mechanical servo solution available today. Frameless

direct drive rotary motors use separate rotors and stators instead of bearings. These parts become an

integral part of the machine, in addition to the necessary feedback devices. They are ideal for applications

where machine space is limited or where total weight has a critical impact.

These motors are essentially custom built and therefore more expensive, requiring weeks or even months

of design and integration. In addition, once the system fails, the removal and replacement process of the

motor or feedback device is also extremely complicated. Therefore, frameless direct drive rotary motor

technology is not suitable for every application, its most widespread applications are in airborne and ground

vehicles, such as night vision devices, radar systems and weapon systems aiming control, and those with high

size, weight or performance requirements for high-end industrial applications, such as robotics or precision grinding machines.

Integrated direct drive rotary motor

The integrated direct-drive rotary motor integrates the rotor, stator and feedback device aligned before the

factory into a housing with precision bearings, which is a complete solution. Integrated direct-drive rotary motors

are ideal for applications where loads can be ridden on motor bearings. For motors that already use bearings, the

user needs to connect the motor to the load, or let 3 or more bearings complete the alignment, which will be a

heavy, time-consuming work. Therefore, integrated direct drive rotary motors are commonly used for indexing and rate turntable applications.
