Triconex 3502E TMR with Self-Test 48 VAC/VDC Digital Input Modules

Each TMR Digital Input (DI) module has three isolated input channels that independently process all data input into the module. The microprocessor on each channel scans each input point, compiles the data, and transfers it to the main processor as needed. The input data is then voted on the main processor before processing to ensure the highest integrity. All critical signal paths are 100% triple for security and maximum availability. Each channel condition signal provides an optically isolated field and Tricon independently.

All TMR digital input modules maintain a complete, continuous diagnostic channel for each system. Any diagnosis failure activates the Fault indicator of any channel module, which in turn activates the chassis alarm signal. The module fault indicator indicates a channel fault, not a module failure. Ensure that the module runs properly in the presence of a person with a single error, and may continue to operate correctly for some kinds of multiple faults. Models 3502E, 3503E, and 3505E can be self-checked to detect a stuck condition where the circuit cannot determine a point into the Off state. Since most safety systems have a tripping capability the ability to detect departure points is an important feature. At the same time, the communication processor is being tested. All TMR digital input modules support hot spare capability requiring a separate external Terminal panel (ETP) with cable interface to the Tricon backplane. Each module is mechanically bonded to prevent incorrect mounting on a configured chassis.
