The Model 3564 single digital input module is optimized for safety-critical applications where low cost is more important than maximum availability. On a single module, only these parts of the signal path are required to ensure safe operation three times. Special self-checking circuits detect all card and card break fault situations in less than half a second. If the single module detects an input fault, it reports the point as Off, which may cause the faulty module to occur when a switches to hot backup.
