The device listed here is model 9907-164, which is part of the microprocessor-based 505 and 505E governor control units. These control modules are designed for operation of steam turbines as well as turbo generator and turbo expander modules. The 505/505E Series was originally developed, produced and manufactured by Woodward Corporation. Woodward is America’s oldest industrial manufacturer, founded in 1870 and remains one of the leading industrial companies in the market today. These 505 and 505E models are available from our AX Control Inc. as part of our inventory of used but refurbished and repaired digital hardware.

The 9907-164 unit is designed to control a steam turbine by operating its single extraction and/or steam turbine. It utilizes the turbine’s split stage actuators (one or both) to actuate the steam inlet valve.
The unit, like any 505 governor module, is field configurable by the field operator. The menu-driven software is controlled and changed from the operator control panel integrated on the front of the machine. The panel displays two lines of text, 24 characters each.
The 9907-164 is equipped with a range of discrete and analog inputs: 16 contact inputs (4 of which are dedicated and 12 of which are programmable), then 6 programmable current inputs, from 4 to 20 mA. Standard features included in the 9907-164 feature include critical speed avoidance, valve limiter, automatic start sequence and stop first out indicator.
