The CPU board contains the microprocessor and RAM memory, real-time clock, LED indicator, INIT button, and CompactFlash interface.
The baseplate of the PM863 controller has two RJ45 Ethernet ports (CN1 and CN2) for connecting to the control network, and two RJ45 serial ports (COM3 and COM4). One of the serial ports (COM3) is an RS-232C port with a modem control signal, while the other port (COM4) is isolated and used to connect to configuration tools. The controller supports CPU redundancy to improve availability (CPU, CEX-Bus, communication interfaces, and S800 I/O).
High integrity functionality is achieved by adding the SM812 module and SIL certification software. This enables non-critical control schemes to be upgraded to SIL authentication schemes by adding the plug-in SM81x module and selecting the appropriate software. AC 800M High-Integrity also provides IEC 61508 and TUV certified control environments for combining security and critical business process controls in a single controller unit without sacrificing security integrity. This parameter must be configured according to the security manual.
