1746-NO4V Allen-Bradley SLC 500 analog output module

The Allen-Bradley 1746-NO4V is a four (4) point, non-isolated SLC 500 standard analog voltage output module. It has an output range of -10 to 10 volts -1 LSB DC, with the backplane rated for 55 mah at 5 volts and 145 mah at 24 volts. By activating the external SW1, the external 24 VDC power supply can be used for the module. If the backplane power supply is sufficient, the backplane power supply can be used as the power supply for the module instead of the external power supply. The 1746-NO4V features 500 volt DC field wiring to backplane isolation with a maximum load reactance of 1 F and a maximum load current of 10 mA.

The module is a factory calibration module that uses a 16-bit binary complement binary communication format. The 1746-NO4V is packaged in an open housing and mounted on the 1746 chassis. It also comes with an LED status indicator and a removable terminal board (RTB). The recommended wire size for this module is #14 AWG maximum wire size. The update time of all parallel channels was 512 s, and the step response time was 2.5 ms at 95% time. The 1746-NO4V has an operating temperature range of 32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit and a non-operating temperature range of -40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit, with a non-condensing relative humidity of 5 to 95% for operation and storage. The 1746-NO4V has a maximum overall accuracy drift of +/-54 ppm/ C at full scale.

The Allen-Bradley 1746-NO4V module is a Programmable Logic controller (PLC) analog output module belonging to the SLC 500 product platform. The module’s output channel generates a voltage signal in the range of -10 to +10VDC.

When installing this module into the case, you can use certain guidelines to determine the ideal slot or case assignment for the module. Consider two (2) general factors such as ambient temperature and electrical noise. For electrical noise, it is recommended to install the module away from AC or high level DC voltage. In addition, it is best to install this module away from the system power supply. The chassis closest to the bottom of the cabinet is recommended for ambient temperature.

The module cannot be removed when powered on. Do not remove the module while it is powered on, as electrical arcs may cause damage to electronic circuits. The module can also be installed via a removable terminal board (RTB) mounted on its front panel. Use 14 AWG wires and limit a maximum of two (2) wires to the same terminal. This is to provide room for troubleshooting and to be able to close the module cover.

The analog output can be assigned to the PID controller output, the result of a mathematical operation, or a manual value input from the human-machine interface (HMI) or monitoring and Data acquisition (SCADA). These are the control command sources. It can also be used to forward signals for reference by other devices to realize their monitoring, recording and conversion applications. For independent controllers that require control coordination, such as load sharing functions, the analog output can be used to send reference signals for all relevant controllers and devices.
