Allen-Bradley 1756-IB32 is a ControlLogix digital input/output module. As part of the ControlLogix system, this input module has two sets of 32 inputs with 16 points each. Mount it to the ControlLogix case by using the required detachable junction box housing or RTB, such as Allen-Bradley 1756-TBCH or 1756-TBS6H. This module occupies a slot in the ControlLogix chassis and is offered as an open case type. The 1756-IB32 module has an operating voltage range of 10 to 31.2 V DC with a nominal input voltage of 24 V DC. Its voltage class is 12/24 volt DC suction, current consumption is 120 mA at 5.1 volts, 2 mA at 24 volts, and the total backplane power rating is 0.66 W. The maximum power consumption at 60 degrees Celsius is 6.2 W, while the heat dissipation at 60 degrees Celsius is 21.1 BTU/ hour.
The Allen-Bradley 1756-IB32 control logix digital I/O module also has a maximum surge current rating of 250 mA, which decays to under 37% in 22 milliseconds when not activated. In the off state, it has a maximum current of 2.27 mA and a maximum voltage of 5 volts. The input delay times for the off to On and on to off processes are different. For the off to on process, the hardware latency is up to 380 microseconds, plus user-configurable filtering times of 0, 1, or 2 milliseconds. Switching latency includes hardware latency of up to 420 microseconds, plus user-configurable filter times of 0, 1, 2, 9, or 18 milliseconds.
The Allen-Bradley 1756-IB32 is a high-density discrete input module that belongs to the ControlLogix product family of Programmable Automation Controllers (PAC). The module has thirty-two (32) input channels divided into two (2) groups, each group of sixteen (16) channels.
It can be installed in a local I/O rack or distributed I/O chassis, or in a stand-alone or distributed control system (DCS) such as Allen-Bradley’s Plant PAx. Once you enter the module through hardware configuration, you can access the parameters of the module, such as the general properties of the module with important parameters that are compatible with keying and slot assignment. The module also has configurable request packet intervals (RPI), module bans, responses to communication failures, and scheduled connections through the control network. Each channel of the module has configurable filter Settings that allow fine-tuning of the module’s response time to the signal. This adjustment is useful in applications where discrete signals are unstable and susceptible to noise. This feature helps prevent false positive and false negative readings.
The module also has the ability to self-diagnose through module information, where the diagnostic status of the module can be monitored, such as minor and severe faults. It can also detect the status of the ControlLogix backplane to which the module is connected.
The module comes with a detachable wiring panel (RTB). This RTB allows modular replacement of defective modules and easy signal wiring. Compatible RTB of this module is 1756-TBCH 1756-TBS6H or 36 terminal RTB.
