1756-IF8H Allen-Bradley Hart analog input module

Allen-Bradley 1756-TBCH is an analog input module for the ControlLogix controller platform. The module mainly has eight (8) differential input channels compatible with voltage and current signals. It also adds compatibility with the High Speed Addressable Remote Sensor (HART) protocol, with a HART modem per module. Configurable current signals for the 1756-IF8H include industry standard 0-20 mA and 4-20 mA. For voltage input signals, the supported voltages are +/-10VDC, 0-5 VDC, 1-5 VDC, and 0-10 VDC. The module has a resolution range of 16-21 bits and the backplane current requirements are 300 mA @ 5.1VDC and 135 mA @ 24VDC. Its total backplane power consumption is 4.77 watts, while heat dissipation varies depending on the configuration signal. The heat dissipation for voltage signal processing is 11/0 BTU/hr, the current is 13.7 BTU/hr, the open-circuit detection time is 5 seconds, and the voltage and current signal configurations have overvoltage protection of 30 VDC and 8 VDC, respectively. The module is a single-width module, so it occupies a slot in the 1756 chassis. It can be part of a local I/O or distributed I/O system. The HART scan time of 1756-IF8H was 18… 488 ms and 1 second (if HART is enabled) while HART is active for all channels with an estimated scan time of 10 seconds. Module pass-through configurations and communication with HART communications and devices may significantly increase scan times. 1756-IF8H uses the successive approximation method as the input conversion method, while the output conversion method uses R-trapezoidal DAC, monotonicity and no code loss.

Allen-Bradley 1756-IF8H is a HART analog module belonging to the ControlLogix system. It requires a 36-bit spring-clamped RTB or removable junction box housing, which can be 1756-TBCH or 1756-TBS6H and is compatible with HART 5, 6 and 7. Eight differential voltage or current inputs are available for this module, with one HART modem per module. The 1756-IF8H input module receives the signal from the process value transmitter and then converts it into the corresponding measured value for use in the Logix controller. The 1756 IF8H using the Studio 5000 Logix Designer has three data formats for you to choose from: Analog only, Analog and HART PV and analog and HART by channel. If you want the members of the tag to be arranged like the members of the non-HART analog input module, you should choose the analog and HART PV formats. The mock values are clustered at the end of the label, making it easy to view all eight mock values at once. However, if you want to group the state, analog values, and device state of each channel in one label, you should choose the analog and HART by channel formats. This will make it easier for you to view all the data related to your field equipment.

Using this module, you can implement emulated and HART connections in one module. The HART command can be transmitted as an unscheduled message with 1756-IF8H. Other features of the 1756-IF8H include multiple current and voltage input ranges, real-time sampling, process alarm, off-line detection, module filtering, underrange and overrange detection, rate alarm, and high-speed addressable remote sensor (HART) communication. The 1756 IF8H each channel had a variable operating range in the module. Available ranges include -10 to 10 volts, 0 to 5 volts, 0 to 10 volts, 0 to 20 mah, and 4 to 20 mah, with HART instruments using the latter range. The module has a resolution range of 16 to 21 bits. Baseboard voltage and current ratings are 5.1 V DC, 300 mah, 24 V DC and 135 mah, giving it a total baseboard power of 4.77 watts. Voltage power consumption is 3.21 watts and 4.01 watts of current, and it also has maximum overvoltage protection of 30 volts DC(voltage) and 8 volts DC(current).
