1756-L71S Allen-Bradley GuardLogix 5570 controller
The Allen-Bradley 1756-L71S is the GuardLogix 5570 controller, part of the Logix5000 controller family. This is a ControlLogix controller with security features. This is a dual processor solution that must be used with the 1756-L7SP security module to comply with SIL 3 or Cat. 4/PLe Safety standard. The Security Partner controller is automatically configured and provides major benefits as a single project. It has powerful motion processing power and speed as well as high performance logic. It has a USB port for communication and can support up to 500 controller connections. The 1756-L71S controller has 2MB user memory, 1MB secure memory, and 0.98 MB I/O memory.
It can support 128,000 digital I/ OS and 4,000 analog I/ OS. It consumes 5mA current at 1.2V DC and 800mA current at 5.1V DC. It has a power consumption of 2.5W, heat dissipation of 8.5 BTU/hr, weight of 0.55lbs and isolation voltage of 30V(continuous) for basic insulation. It can be installed in any slot in the ControlLogix 1756 case. For secure communication, it uses control networks, device networks, or Ethernet /IP networks. The 1756-L71S controller controls or monitors I/ OS through the backplane or I/O links. For controller diagnostics, it has a front display that provides uptime information. It works with the 1756-ESMCAP and 1756-ESMCAPK energy storage modules, which means there is no need for lithium batteries. The 1 GB (1784-SD1) secure digital card comes pre-loaded with optional non-volatile storage, expandable up to 2 GB (1784-SD2).
The 1756-L71S mainly features 2 MB of standard user memory, 1 MB of safe memory, 0.98 MB of I/O memory, and 1 GB of non-volatile memory provided by the pre-supply 1784-SD1 that came with the controller. Similar to the standard ControlLogix controller, the 1756-L71S has a USB communication port for programming, hardware configuration, and online editing. The controller is capable of handling up to 128,000 discrete I/O points and 4,000 analog I/O points.
The 1756-L71S performs standard and safety functions. Standard features include I/O control, logic, timing, counting, report generation, communications, arithmetic calculations, and data file processing. Security functions are communicated from the master controller to the partner security controller. The 1756-L71S does not support controller redundancy and is programmed using programming languages such as Relay ladder logic (RLL), structured text, function block diagrams, sequential function diagrams (SFC). For programming security tasks, only relay ladder Logix is allowed.
Secure communication options supported by the 1756-L71S include Ethernet I/P, ControlNet, and DevideNet. If used with the 1756-CN2/A, 100 control network connections are supported, 40 are connected to the 1756-CNB/D and 1756-CNB/E, and 128 are connected to the 1756-CN2/B. 128 TCP connections are allowed using 1756-x and 128 Ethernet /IP; 64 TCP with 1756-ENBT.
