Technical Description 1794-AENT:

The Allen-Bradley module 1794-AENTR is a component module of the Flex I/O product family. This module is a redundant Ethernet communication adapter that is commonly used to implement high availability Ethernet because it supports the implementation of the device-level loop (DLR) topology.

Ethernet connectivity is achieved through dual RJ45 ports that support the Ethernet I/P protocol. These ports support linear topologies for simple communication networks and ring topologies for high availability networks. It supports 10/100 Mbps communication rates and is capable of connecting up to eight (8) Flex I/O modules to connected controllers in the network.

The 1794-AENTR is mounted directly on the DIN rail. Check the installation point for excessive vibration and shock. The acceptable operating vibration and shock of the module are 5g and 30g respectively. An external power supply with a nominal supply voltage of 24VDC must be connected to the 1794-AENTR power terminal to energize the module. The acceptable supply voltage range is 19.2… 31.2 V DC, including 5% AC ripple. When connecting to a module, the recommended wire size is 0.33… 3.31 square feet. mm or 22… 12 AWG copper stranded wire with an insulation class of 75°C or 167°F or higher with a maximum insulation thickness of 1.2 mm or 3/64 in.

The module is equipped with a status indicator to help users troubleshoot and monitor the module. It has two-color LED indicators that provide the status of modules, networks, Ethernet Link 1 and Ethernet link 2. The module and network status LED lights up green when it is normal and red when it is in trouble. The status lights of Link 1 and link 2 blink yellow for a 10 Mbps connection and green for a 100 Mbps connection.

Allen-Bradley 1794-AENTR is a Flex I/O dual port Ethernet /IP redundant media adapter module. It can handle up to eight I/O modules with communication rates of 10 to 100 Mbps. It carries an 18-amp surge current lasting 2 milliseconds. It has a nominal input voltage of 24 volts DC and an input voltage range of 19.2 to 31.2 volts DC, including 5% AC ripple. The module has a maximum power consumption of 500 mah at 24 volt DC, one of which is 400 mah, and a maximum Flexbus output of 640 mah at 5 volt DC.

Ethernet adapter modules such as 1794-AENTR connect to Ethernet /IP supported controllers such as ControlLogix and CompactLogix. It comes with a status indicator that allows the user to monitor the health of the network (red/green), the modules (red/green), and the two links (yellow/green). The module has a sustained isolation voltage of 50 volts and has a basic isolation type. It has been type tested for 60 seconds from the power supply to Flexbus and Ethernet at 1000 volts AC. It has a maximum power consumption of 7.1 watts at 19.2 volts DC and a heat dissipation of 24.2 BTU/ hour at 24 volts DC.

This module should not be installed and removed while powered on. The power supply of the module shall comply with the Safety Ultra-low Voltage (SELV) standard or the Protection Ultra-Low Voltage (PELV) standard to comply with the ce Low Voltage Directive (LVD). Installation is done using DIN rails. This module does not require network scheduling and routing tables. The 1794-AENTR module can communicate with the FLEX I/O module on the same DIN rail. Note that before using this module, the user needs to configure an IP address as well as an optional gateway address and subnet mask. The entire 1794-AENTR module measures 3.4 x 3.7 x 2.7 inches. This adapter is suitable for certain application requirements using Ethernet. These include situations where you need to send data or plant management on a regular basis. There is a built-in switch that enables a high level of availability, drive configuration, data collection and process control over a high speed network with Internet/Intranet connection. It uses the Control and Information Protocol (CIP).
