Application

The 269PLUS-DO-211-120N-120VAC is a motor protection system in GE Multilin’s 269 Plus motor management relay family. The purpose of the system is to provide a layer of protection for three-phase AC motors against damage caused by temperature and electrical hazards. The operating voltage of the controller on this protection system is 120 VAC. The system uses a resistance thermal detector (RTD) to determine thermal conditions and a current transformer (CT) to determine electrical conditions. The system uses 120 ohm nickel base RTD.

The protection system uses the EnerVista Launchpad package to meet its internal requirements, including setup and support. The software can communicate with external devices using a variety of methods, including serial, Ethernet, and modem. Configuration files can also be created externally and transferred to the protection system. EnerVista also provides a toolkit that includes GE Multilin drivers and automatic event and waveform retrieval capabilities.

The back of the system panel contains the various inputs and outputs needed to take full advantage of the protection features. There are 10 RTD inputs on the back of the panel, divided into three sections. RTD inputs 1-3 and 4-6 are usually used for stator winding protection. RTD 7-10 is commonly used to monitor ambient temperatures as well as motor and load bearing temperatures. In addition, the back of the panel contains the control power input and four output relays. There are also phase and ground CT inputs and contrast dials for the screen.
