Technical Description IC697CPX928-CD：
The IC697CPX928 is a programmable logic controller manufactured by GE Automation and Controls. It is designed to fit into a single rack slot and comes with three built-in serial ports. A rack-mounted backplane allows the device to communicate with several different modules. A run/stop control switch with three positions or specific software running from a connected computer is used to control the C697CPX928. Seven on-board LED lights show the operating status.
Features of the device include a 96MHz80486DX4 microprocessor, floating-point calculations, processor speed of 0.4 microseconds per Boolean function, 8K analog /O, and any combination of 12KV/O.
The IC697CPX928 supports several modules, including the iC697LAN interface module and various display, coprocessor, communication and link interface modules. The IC660/61 bus controller and IC697 discrete and analog I/O modules are also compatible with the device.
To program the device, connect it to a computer with MS-DOS, Windows 95, or Windows NT. This connection can be achieved through serial, parallel, or Ethernet interfaces. For Ethernet connections to programmed computers, special hardware is required. Since IC697CPX928 is programmed through software, hardware setup of DIP switch and jumper is not required. Device configuration Settings can be protected digitally through passwords or physically through key switches.
This IC697CPX928 provides 6 megabytes of memory for user and program data. This memory is maintained by a lithium CMOS battery. Optional flash memory (NVRAM) up to 256 kilobytes is also supported. The operating system firmware is stored in flash memory. Updating the firmware does not require removing the device or replacing the EPROM.
In environments where temperatures reach 122 degrees Fahrenheit (50 degrees Celsius), a fan of 70 cubic feet (CFM) per minute is needed to prevent overheating.
The product manual contains detailed instructions for installing lC697CPX928. Power off the rack before installation. The operation control switch should be in the shutdown position. The memory protection key switch should be in the off position. Put the CMOS battery into one of the battery connection slots. Insert the device into the rack and restore power.
