The PMC-422 is a flexible solution for integrating multiple serial I/O channels onto a single board computer (SBC),
VMEbus, or CPCI system. Efficiently packaging eight serial channels onto a single PMC, effectively utilizing available
PMC sites. Each serial port is implemented by a separate UART with an independent programmable baud rate. Each
port in the pair has a separate programmable line driver that can be set to any of the most popular signal types :RS232,
RS422, RS485(full duplex and half duplex with either terminated or unterminated options). The signal characteristics
are set by the onboard DIP switch. Depending on the specific crystal oscillator used, each serial baud rate is programmed
to range from 150 bit/s to 6.2 Mb/ s. In addition, a 16-bit universal timer/counter with 8-way universal input is provided.
