The digital I/O UR6CH feature allows the universal relay to obtain contact input and contact output to control and monitor auxiliary devices that may be within the application-specific protection application range of the universal Multiiln relay. Universal relays can have up to 96 contact inputs (rated at 250 volts) and up to 64 contact outputs, depending on the sequence of options and the number of digital I/O modules included in them. There are different types of GE Multilin digital I/O modules, indicating how many inputs and outputs each I/O module UR6CH has, and which type of input or output the universal relay (UR) can use. For example, the UR-6CH has the 6C order option. This means that the output provided by this particular digital I/O module is eight Form-C outputs. If multiple digital I/O modules of this type are found in a particular relay, then this increases the amount of Form-C output that a generic relay can use for a particular terminal application.
