Technical Description 1794-ASB：

The 1794-ASB is an Allen-Bradley remote I/O communication adapter module. The product belongs to the Flex I/O product family of distributed I/O modules.
1794-ASB has one (1) remote /O interface. The RIO protocol is a conventional protocol that uses the Belden 9463 or equivalent cable to connect the device to the RIO scanner. The module is compatible with legacy Allen-Bradley controllers such as PLC2, PLC3 and PLC5 controllers as well as the SLC500 automation platform. It is also available for modern Logix controller platforms as well as third party devices and includes partner modules.
1794-ASB sends data to and receives data from controllers via block Transfer Read (BTR) and Block Transfer Write (BTW) instructions. Using these instructions, packets can be sent simultaneously or sequentially, depending on the desired speed.
The 1794-ASB supports communication rates of 57.6Kbps, 115.2Kbps and 230.4kbps. The expected power supply voltage range of the module is 11VC-31.2VDC, including 5% AC ripple, while the nominal power supply is 24VDC. It supports the installation of up to eight (8) Flex I/O modules to successfully implement a distributed V/O architecture. The module has built-in status indicators such as power LED, adapter activity LED, adapter failure LED and local failure LED. The module is mounted on a standard DIN rail and has an open housing, which means the 1794-ASB needs to be installed in the appropriate housing to protect the equipment from industrial components and contaminants.
The maximum power consumption is 450 mah with a constant 24 volt DC power input. The maximum power dissipation is 4.6 watts at 31.2 volts DC and the heat dissipation is 15.7BTU/ hour at 31.2 volts DC.
The 1794-ASB measures about 4x2x, 4 inches and weighs just 6 ounces. Allen-Bradley 1794-ASB is an obsolete adapter module that is part of the FLEXI/0 series. It connects the FLEXIV/O module to the /O scanner port over a communication network. It has a built-in power supply that converts the backplane’s 24VDC to 5VDC in order to power the FLEXI/O module. It can also be used with the AllenBradley PLC 3 and 5 series. In addition, the 1794-ASB recognizes the safety state data of the FLEX integrated simulation module and is capable of using a 32-point FLEXV/O unit. When using FLEX integrated simulation modules in your setup configuration, the user must use a 1794-ASB D Series or later module.
