Description
Product details:
The GE Multiwire UR-9EH is a CPU module used to replace failed modules or upgrade older modules
in the general purpose relay family. This module provides computing power to relays in the form of logic
algorithms, logic gates, latches and timers. CPU modules do not require surge ground connections.
Users should note that the new CPU module must be used with the new CT/VT module; Again, the old
CPU module must be used with the old CT/VT module. Doing so will result in hardware mismatches or DSP
misdisplays, so users should ensure that the modules they purchase are appropriate for the age of their corresponding modules.
GE Multilin’s UR-9eh has a number of configurable Settings that affect CPU functionality and can be modified
using the keyboard and panel or EnerVista UR. For example, the server scanning function can be disabled to
increase CPU resources, which is especially useful for users who do not require IEC 61850 client/server functions. The
plug-and-play capability of the CPU module also automatically establishes basic CPU Settings, eliminating the
overall programming burden on the user and enabling the user to focus on optimizing Settings rather than starting from scratch.
There are a number of UR Multilin series general purpose relays with different functions and applications. The two
generations of UR relays are G60 and G30. The G60 is designed for medium and large sized generators (primary protection
and backup protection) and the G30 is designed for small and medium sized generators, providing comprehensive monitoring
capabilities in addition to protecting the generator. In addition, most UR relays fall into the transmission or distribution category.
For example, L30 provides line current differential protection for subtransmission lines, while D30 provides backup
distance protection for transmission systems. In addition to those briefly mentioned here, there are over 18 UR relays.
Whether the universal relay is a vertical (3/4 size) or a horizontally mounted relay, each universal relay is equipped with a CPU.
A CPU can be identified by the RH-9 component description, followed by a letter that indicates the specific characteristics
of the CPU. Cpus in categories 9A, 9C, or 9D will be the old module type, and other letters (below 9E and 9S)
will indicate the new CPU module included in the general purpose relay.
